How to check and set the communications settings. 1)
Verify the unit
is powered and front screen is illuminated. 2)
In the software
click the Setup/Communications menu and verify the COM port selected is the COM
port the unit is connected to and that the baud rate is set to 9600. 3)
In the software
click on the Recorder/Verify menu. 4)
If the unit fails
to connect, then reboot the computer and restart the software. 5)
In the software
click on the Recorder/Verify menu again. 6) If the unit still fails to communicate try resetting the unit. Click Here for step by step instructions. Try verifying the unit again. 7)
If the unit still fails to communicate then exit the software
and right click on “My “Computer”. A Windows box should open. 8)
Click on “Properties” The “System
Properties” box should open. 9)
Click on “Device Manager”, and then click the
plus sign next to “Ports (COM & LPT)”. All individual ports should now
be displayed. 10)
Verify the port you are hooked to is called out as
a COM port and verify there are no conflicts. 11)
If the
COM port is not correct, restart the software and correct the COM port selection
by clicking the Setup/Communications menu. 12)
If there are conflicts in the COM ports then the
computer being used needs repair. 13)
If the COM port is correct and there are no
conflicts, then highlight the COM port that is in use and then click
“Properties”. 14)
Click on “Resources”. Verify that the interrupt
request is “4” if COM 1 is in use or “3” if COM 2 is in use. If these
are wrong reset them and then restart the software and try to verify
communications. 15)
If the settings
are correct then exit the “System Properties” and
Reset the unit. 16)
Restart the
software and verify the unit connects. 17)
If the unit still fails to connect then try a
different computer. 18)
If the unit still
does not communicate on another computer with good COM ports then the RS-232
cable may need to be replaced. 19)
If the unit still
fails to connect with a new COM cable then contact Megger customer
service. |
